Communication discipline

This question is all about "communications," and what is the best way to have disciplined communication with people and organizations. If a researcher does not know much about the principles and discipline of communication, they definitely would have a problem gathering the correct data for Quantitative research. I found a fantastic peer-reviewed eBook entitled "Quantitative Research in Communication." (Allen, 2017) This book has everything about the methods, principles, and disciplines of communicating with people and organizations in a Quantitative research approach.

Communication discipline

The communication study, in general, falls into the following three categories, "rhetorical, quantitative, and qualitative." (Allen, 2017, p. 2) As this writing focuses on answering the communication on people and organizations dealing with numbers, I will focus on the quantitative communication category. "Quantitative researchers are often interested in how an understanding of a particular communication phenomenon might be generalized to a larger population." (Allen, 2017, p. 3) However, there are many challenges when the researcher tries to gather and understand larger samples. For example, how can we deal with "punitive behavioral control statements have on a classroom?" or make connections "to respond to coworkers displaying emotional stress?" (Allen, 2017, p. 3) and lots of interrelated communications between participants. We need to use some principles and disciplines, as I mentioned above, to collect numbers from people and organizations, and some of them are as follows.

(1) For the primary objective of interviewing with people and organizations should be "Create, expand, and refine theory through systematic observation of hypothesized connections among variables" (Allen, 2017, p. 4)

(2) For data use, the researcher needs to "Operational variables created through surveys and/or intentional manipulation (i.e., an experiment)"

(3) The researcher role should be "Role of a precise data analyst."

(4) To keep the research in a standard rigor, the conclusions should be "based on observed connections that are unlikely due to chance or errors on the part of the researcher."

(5) It is essential to keep the questions so that it could answer to "What is the relationship between the amount of time someone works for an organization and his or her perceptions of that organization's culture?"
